Engaged, Diverse, Ready for Service
On April 12, 2024, Kansas became the seventh state to pass Social Work Interstate Licensing Compact Legislation. That was a threshold that had to be met for states to create a Compact Commission that will govern the Compact and ensure coordination between the participating states. In all, 10 states have passed Compact legislation: Missouri, South Dakota, Utah, Washington state, Kentucky, Virginia, Nebraska, Vermont, and Maine [source: www.socialworkers.org].
The mission of the Grace Abbott School of Social Work at the University of Nebraska at Omaha is to educate students to become highly qualified social workers who serve all people, influence the systems that affect them, advance knowledge through teaching and research, engage with diverse communities, and promote socially just societies.
